Three Kings Day

There is one more holiday that Latino families countdown to after Santa stops by and that is the twelve days from Christmas day to El Dia De Los Reyes/Three Kings Day. This day celebrates the day the three wise men, Gaspar, Melchor, and Baltasar arrived to meet sweet baby Jesus in his infamous manger.

The evening before Three Kings Day we leave out rum (because it is obvs hydrating), hay for the camels, and tobacco (poor men have had a grueling journey and need to spark up). Like Christmas, every family develops their own traditions so while I grew up leaving these three items for those tired men what other families leave may be different.

This year the three wise men gave each of my children a costume, instrument, and book. And learning ways that I can weave in the Spanish language into my family’s everyday life from multilingual expert Diana Limongi the three kings were influenced to also leave a bilingual game, Spot It! in Spanish.

And, since you guys have asked for where you can also purchase Spot It! we put in a call to the three wise men ourselves and they said that Spot It! is no longer made by the manufacturer but still available on Amazon. So if you’re going to get it, get it ASAP HERE before they sell out! Best $11 you have ever spent.

Stay tuned for this week’s episode of Oye Mami Show where Diana stops by as our very first guest!

Feliz Dia De Los Reyes!

Ciao!
